The Macomb County Clerk's Office
The Macomb County Clerk / Register of Deeds is Anthony G. Forlini. The Clerk / Register of Deeds page says the office features the Circuit Court department, Elections, Jury Room, Register of Deeds, and Vital Records. The Clerk Court Records page notes that the Macomb County Clerk is designated as the Clerk of the Macomb County Circuit Court and assists the court with many functions. The Clerk page calls the office the "County Store" for services and records.

The Clerk is separate from the district court clerks and from the Probate Register. District courts maintain their own clerk operations. Probate Court uses the Probate Register for probate administration.
Circuit Court Section
The Clerk's Circuit Court Section files new civil, domestic, and criminal cases and maintains existing case files for the 16th Judicial Circuit Court. All documents filed with the court are placed on the computer system daily. The Clerk's Court Section address is 40 N. Main Street, Mount Clemens, MI 48043, phone 586-469-5351. Counter service closes at 4:15 p.m. on regular business days. The Clerk reminds users that the office does not maintain the CourtView public access website and is not responsible for the vendor's technical performance.

eFiling and Paper Filing in Macomb County
Macomb's Clerk says all Civil Cases, DO (divorce without minor children), and PPO case types PP/PH/PJ are e-file. E-file case initiation is only available for PPO case types; all other cases must be initiated by paper. Mail filings should include filer information, case information, payment, and the appropriate filing or copy fee. If stamped copies are needed back, include a self-addressed stamped envelope. The fax number for filings is 586-469-5353. eFilings are submitted around the clock and dated for the date submitted regardless of time.

Register of Deeds
The Register of Deeds records real-estate property documents such as deeds, mortgages, liens, lis pendens, and federal tax liens. The Register of Deeds direct phone is 586-469-7953, fax 586-469-5130, email registerofdeeds@macombgov.org. The FAQ states recording deeds, mortgages, lis pendens, certified copies of court documents, or other instruments costs $30 per document, effective October 1, 2016, regardless of page count. Copies may be requested in person, by mail, or online, with search and copy fees applying.

Owner and lien searches can be done in person, by mail with a $5 search fee per name or address, or online. The Register's online search is grantor/grantee-based. Advanced search becomes available after a document has been fully indexed and verified.

Vital Records and Marriage
Vital Records are housed at the Register of Deeds / Vital Records office at 120 N. Main Street, Mount Clemens. Marriage licenses, birth certificates, and death certificates are issued here. The marriage license process begins online; both applicants attend an in-person appointment for notarization, payment, and license pickup. The Michigan resident marriage license fee is $20; the nonresident fee is $30; the three-day waiting period can be waived for an extra $10. For the full marriage process, see the marriage and divorce records page.

Clerk Forms and Resources
The Clerk's forms page lists downloadable forms, including the Circuit Court File Room Records Request and the Real Estate Record Search forms. SCAO-approved Michigan court forms are linked from the same area, with motion forms, PPO forms, name change forms, and local Macomb request-for-hearing forms.

The Michigan Secretary of State driver record page, shown above, is linked from the Clerk's forms area because a state driver record is separate from the court traffic file. The two records cover different facts.
Macomb County Circuit Court Case Type Codes
Each Michigan Circuit Court case carries a case type code that identifies the kind of matter. The Clerk Court Records page links Michigan Courts case type code references that explain common civil, criminal, and family codes. Knowing the code makes searches faster and helps users identify the right form. Examples include CK for civil cases, DM for divorce with children, DO for divorce without children, FC for criminal felony, PP for personal protection orders, and CH for chancery. The full list lives on the Michigan Courts website.
PPO and Name Change Forms at the Clerk
The Clerk Court Records page links Personal Protection Order forms and name change forms in addition to the SCAO general civil forms. PPO case types PP, PH, and PJ are e-file eligible under Macomb's Clerk rules. Name change cases include the petition, publication step, criminal-history paperwork (where applicable), and the order. Some name change cases include confidentiality protections for safety reasons. The Self-Help Center at the Circuit Court building helps self-represented filers locate the right form and complete it, though staff cannot give legal advice.
The Clerk as the "County Store"
The Clerk page calls the office the "County Store" because so many transactions run through one address. Marriage licenses, certified copies, document orders, jury check-ins, voter services, Register of Deeds searches, and Vital Records orders all start at the Clerk. A Macomb resident who needs a copy of a marriage certificate, a copy of a Circuit Court judgment, and a check of a property's recorded liens can handle every one of those at the 40 N. Main or 120 N. Main buildings. The phrase is unusual for a clerk's office and is useful local voice.
Anthony G. Forlini, Macomb County Clerk
Anthony G. Forlini is the elected Macomb County Clerk / Register of Deeds. The Clerk's homepage carries his name and an introduction to the office. The Clerk page calls the office the "County Store" for services and records. In addition to Circuit Court clerk duties, the elected Clerk runs Elections, the Jury Room, Vital Records, and the Register of Deeds. The Clerk's page in 2026 prominently posts election links, absentee ballot tracking, voting location lookup, a Virtual Clerk's Office, Fraud Notify alerts, newsletters, and the office's video page.
Elections and Jury Service
The Election Department is at 32 Market Street, Mount Clemens. The Clerk page tracks each election cycle, with the May 5, 2026 election highlighted in recent posts. Voters can confirm registration, ballot status, and polling location through the Clerk's site. Macomb County jury service is coordinated through the Jury Room linked from the Clerk's homepage. Summoned jurors receive instructions through the official site rather than third-party services. Jurors who need accommodations should contact the Circuit Court's Access to Justice area.
Virtual Clerk's Office and Online Services
The Clerk's Virtual Clerk's Office allows the public to use online tools for many routine tasks. The online document order form covers six categories of Circuit Court records. Marriage license applications start online before the in-person appointment. The Register of Deeds search tool runs grantor/grantee searches by name. Fraud Notify alerts run by the Register's office let property owners receive notification of recordings on their parcels. These services reduce trips to the counter and are linked from the Clerk's homepage.
Clerk Office Contact
The Clerk runs two main public counters. Court business is at 40 N. Main; vital records, register of deeds, and elections are at 120 N. Main.
